Meet the new crossover Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo AWD: now with a turbo engine! But did the new engine only bring an upgrade? No, not only - there are still new details in the exterior, the equipment and behavior on the road have changed, plus now a Japanese-assembled CR-V is coming to us. And what is the general picture of the car? I'll tell you about this.
Yes, less than a year has passed, and the Honda CR-V crossover is back in the article. Indeed, even at the time of the preparation of the review on the Honda CR-V 2.4, I noted that another version would soon arrive: with a turbo engine and an expanded list of equipment. This soon "came" with the beginning of 2019 - already in all dealerships of the brand there is a car with the long name Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo AWD. But it immediately becomes clear that it is the motor that is the main change. But not the only one. The exterior slightly chan New Honda CR-V 2018 Touring AWD White ged: the turbo engine required an additional air intake for the intercooler - as a result, a new front bumper appeared (the lower part is different). The exhaust system has changed: now there is a beautiful pair of rounded tailpipes at the back, plus, respectively, the rear bumper has changed. And when looking at the sidewalls, the eyes cling to the new rims. Connoisseurs of the model will notice the plastic cover under the logo and the camera lens at the top of the windshield - but I'm getting ahead of myself.
A few words about the salon: it remained the same as a whole, but changed in details. One of the most notable (and controversial) changes is the glossy door trims around the power window buttons: they look good, but they like to collect fingerprints and can get scratched over time. Past overlays made of ordinary matte plastic were more practical. But the head restraints with the ability to adjust the angle of inclination are only a plus for the comfort of the fit. The lower part of the center console is decorated with two longitudinal wood-look inserts. Everything else is unchanged - and this is good: soft plastic of the front panel, wide seat-chairs, capacious box-organizer, comfortable steering wheel with pleasant leather. And I will definitely remember the rear of the cabin: spacious and free in all directions, separate 3-stage heating, the ability to change the angle of the backrest. The trunk is also still impressive in volume, plus it now has a touch-sensitive lid opening / closing system (by swinging a leg under the bumper).
The exterior of the Honda CR-V has generally remained the same, only the details have changed: the lower part of the front bumper, the dual exhaust ... If it were not for the TURBO sticker, the novelty can only be identified by the rims when looking at the sidewall. The salon has also changed only in small details: gloss on the doors and wood-like finish on the center console. Otherwise, everything is the same - and that's good: wide armchairs, armrest niche, rear space, tilt angle adjustment and heating for the second row, a mirror for watching children. The large trunk is now not only electrically operated, but also with a touch sensor - it can be opened / closed with a swing of the foot.
I will immediately indicate the measurements of the dynamics of 0-100 km / h: stable 9.5 seconds or a little less. This is when the passport promises "9.5-10 seconds" and the passport "10.2 seconds" for the previous version of the Honda CR-V with a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine. I hope that the numbers of real measurements of dynamics will convince those people who are used to measuring everything with numbers.
However, in the case of the Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo, not only the bare numbers are important, but also the driving feel. For example, at low revs (up to 1.8-2 thousand rpm) the engine pulls average, but there is a soundtrack in the Subaru style: a pleasant quiet "boo-boo-boo". If you decide to wake up the engine from its lethargic sleep, then just press the right pedal harder: good traction appears already at 2-2.5 thousand rpm, a slight turbo acceleration comes at 3-3.5 thousand. And then the engine "does not turn sour" up to 5-6 thousand rpm, filling the cabin with a sharp and distinct squeal of a low-volume engine - but also giving the car quite decent dynamics: no worse than the previous 2.4-liter "aspirated"! By the way, the CVT sports mode is not just lik
