Specifications Mercedes-Benz G-Class 7th restyling 2015, jeep / suv 5 doors, 2nd generation, W463 September 2015 - February 2018
The Gelendvagen, or Mercedes-Benz G-Class, is a legendary SUV manufactured at the Steyr-Puch (now Magna Steyr) plant in Austria. The second generation G-Class (W463) came out in 1989, having gone through several waves of upgrades. In May 2015, Mercedes-Benz introduced the latest, seventh, update to the 463-series SUV. The car has received some design changes. Outside, connoisseurs of Gelendvagen will be able to distinguish the restyled version by new bumpers and widened wheel arches. Inside, only the dashboard has changed. From technical changes - improved "old" engines. Diesel V6-turbo is still offered in a single Mercedes-Benz G-Class 2016 Blue version (G 350 d), but only now it is a 245-horsepower engine (the former BlueTEC produced 211 hp). The gasoline naturally aspirated V8 (388 hp) was replaced by a V8-biturbo unit with a capacity of 422 hp. (G 500). It is also installed on the extreme off-road version of the G 500 4x4 Squared ("squared") with portal axles. Top-end modifications from AMG with V8 and V12 biturbo engines are still available to the Russian buyer: G 63 (571 hp) and G 65 (630 hp), which also significantly increased in power in comparison with previous versions.
On the modest version of the G 350 d, 18-inch alloy 5-spoke wheels, LED daytime running lights are installed in the base. In the cabin - wood trim, multifunction steering wheel with leather trim and paddle shifters. The instrument cluster is made in the form of two "wells" with a multifunctional display of 11.4 cm, and the COMAND Online multimedia system is equipped with an 8-inch display. Standard equipment will also offer dual-zone climate control, memory function for the front seats and head restraints, and stainless steel door sill guards. G 500 is distinguished by moldings, body color "metallic", and in the interior - trimmed steering wheel in leather and wood, leather upholstery. Even more luxurious are the AMG styled versions, each with its own striking performance, but there are also mandatory details: 20-inch wheels, a sports exhaust system, an exterior package with stainless steel elements. The unique modification of the G 500 4x4² SUV is a four-wheel version of the three-axle G63 AMG 6x6. The car differs from the standard car, at least, by significantly increased ground clearance, 22-inch rims with 325/55 tires and installed carbon fiber arch extensions.
The set of engines for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class 2015 is quite wide. The G350d version with a 3.0-liter diesel V6 has risen from the previous 211 hp / 540 Nm to 245 hp / 600 Nm. The AMG G 63 with a 5.5-liter V8 now produces 571 hp. (27 hp more) and 760 Nm. The 12-cylinder AMG G 65 with an impressive torque (1000 Nm) has become more powerful by 50 "horses" - the new figure is 630 hp. One of the key aspects of the restyling was the new 4.0-liter "biturbo" V8 for the G500. This ICE debuted in the gorgeous G 500 4x4² concept car at the beginning of March 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show. The unit is based on a new generation of V8 power plants developed by Mercedes-AMG. For the G-Class, it was tuned to 422 hp. (310 kW) power in the range of 5250-5500 rpm and 610 Nm of torque at 2250-4750 rpm. The manufacturer does not focus on fuel consumption, but is proud of the acceleration of the car to 100 km / h - with the new engine it takes 5.9 seconds, which is almost comparable to those of the G 63 (5.4 seconds) and the G 65 ( 5.3 sec.).
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has both dependent suspensions. All-wheel drive - 4x4 full-time with 50/50 symmetrical torque split. The main feature of the second generation Gelendvagen (W463) is that it is one of the few models that are equipped with forced locks of three differentials: center, front and rear interwheel. New for the G 500 4x4² version is the suspension design with two struts on each wheel. The first racks are made according to the usual scheme and have fixed characteristics, while the second are configured electronically. Thanks to this system, the driver can switch between Comfort and Sport modes in just 15 milliseconds. The ground clearance of the G 500 4x4 2 is 450 mm (the
