The first test drive in the new year - and the first test drive of the new Volkswagen T-Cross in Ukraine! And this is not just a novelty, but a compact crossover, on the "machine", and even from a well-known German brand - it seems that the Volkswagen T-Cross initially has everything to become one of the class leaders. The only problem may be the price. Because the “baby” crossover came out truly “golden”.
The brand's most compact crossover is what the Volkswagen T-Cross is. Starting with the Touareg model in the early 2000s, Volkswagen gradually and in different directions increased its own line of crossovers. Until the Volkswagen T-Cross appeared in 2018: it seems to “close from below” the Volkswagen SUV line. What I already talked about in detail during the first acquaintance with the model at the beginning of 2019. Then it was planned that the car would come to us volkswagen t-cross for throughout the year, but the difficult 2020 and temporary stoppages in work made their own adjustments: Ukrainian prices for the Volkswagen T-Cross were announced only in end of 2020, mass deliveries and sales of cars will start right now - at the beginning of 2021.
Nominally, the Volkswagen T-Cross is the first generation and has no direct predecessors. But indirectly, one can recall the Volkswagen CrossPolo model. Despite the separate name T-Cross, in fact, the car is still the closest relative of the Polo: platform, engine and gearbox, interior decoration.
Almost any Volkswagen car drives so carefully, clearly, correctly that it can be taken as a standard in its class: if another model seems softer to you, then it is so, if it feels tougher, then it’s also right. Although, of course, Volkswagen also has mistakes ... but this is clearly not about the T-Cross model! So, the suspension of the car has just an average-successful setting: there are no bumps and knocks on bumps, but there is normal comfort and energy consumption even when driving through medium or large bumps. The note only applies to fast driving on a wavy road, where the car sometimes begins to shake slightly: then small vertical oscillations are noticeable. Well, what did you want from a small crossover with a high body on a short base? By the way, the rolls turned out to be small - obviously less than you expect to get from this "box". Yes, and the steering is quite within the concept of "normal": a little effort on the steering wheel, reactions without delay. The car just goes where it needs to go. But due to its compact dimensions and lightness, mutual understanding is immediately established with the Volkswagen T-Cross.
In short, the ride quality of the suspension/steering is just “normal”, although without memorable details. But what is remembered is the behavior of a 1-liter engine. Despite the modest volume, each acceleration for this motor is like a personal battle for honor and dignity: do not give up! Every start at a traffic light, every acceleration takes place to the sonorous 3-cylinder sound track, which in a moment turns into the anthem of the winner over the next 1.6-liter atmospheric “racer”. Quick reactions to pressing the accelerator pedal, a quick set of revolutions, a quick “bullet” when starting from a place - where do you get so much agility from ?! The answer lies in the 7-speed DSG, which allows the engine to constantly operate in the medium speed zone, where maximum torque is reached. For example, during start and acceleration, even at an average pace, the engine in 1-2 gears “gets out” up to 3.5-4 thousand rpm, and in the following gears it always works in the range of 2.5-3 thousand rpm /min At the same time, lightning-fast and imperceptible shifts of the DSG “machine” make acceleration and acceleration literally seamless. You can recognize the moments of gear shifting only by the sound of the engine and the rushing tachometer needle. But with an increase in speed, the fuse of the engine / box disappears: you get to 100-130 km / h at your usual pace, and maintaining a much higher speed is problematic. And a couple more nuances: the first - with low power / torque indicators, the motor is sensitive to loading; second -
due to the small volume, there is weak engine braking.
The bright color of the Makena Turkis brightens up the rectangular-practical design of the car. Yes, and the creators tried to make the Volkswagen T-Cross more interesting in detail: the front part with a wi
